HTN Showcase 09-12-2010


Reinhold was invited to attend the HTN showcase. As usual the troop of apprentices under the guidance of 3rd year apprentice Bianca Palmer and supported by ‘little chef’ Rod produced a sumptuous dinner. Futura was honoured to receive a plaque of appreciation for their sponsor support. The Peter Howard Culinary Scholarship was awarded to Bianca Palmer working at Briar Grillade in the Hunter Valley.

Penrith Workshop 6-12-2010


Reinhold undertook a workshop with the cookery teachers at Penrith TAFE campus to introduce them to the usage of multimedia in the classroom. Reinhold went through the methodology of delivery and used a range of questioning techniques and feedback to ascertain key learning outcomes. The teachers worked hard and the recipes worked out just fine! The head teacher Ajith received very positive feedback from participants.

The Hospitality Standards Institute (HSI) is the New Zealand regulator for VET courses in hospitality. HSI works with all sectors of the hospitality industry, to deliver quality training programmes that help people grow their careers and develop their businesses. Futura is proud to announce that HSI will use our resources for their on-the-job trainees doing a Modern Apprenticeship in Cookery.

A training day was held with teachers from a range of Polytechnics across New Zealand that deliver the off-the-job component. The workshop familiarised the teachers with the use of the multimedia resources in the classroom and how the recipes and ordering systems work. Excellent feedback was provided to Futura and several Polytechnics are interested in the new eCoach platform.

QTIC Conference11-11-2010


Futura CEO Reinhold Forster conducted a presentation at the recent QTIC conference in Brisbane titled “Use of multimedia for on-the-job training”. A lively discussion ensued on how to use elearning effectively and how the new Futura eCoach assists the employer, worker and RTO. The conference stand was busy with many teachers enquiring about the new online format and how it supported teachers. The automatic marking and record keeping were highly appreciated.

Brett Graham best chef in London11-11-2010


Brett Graham has always been extremely passionate about food. Even while he was an apprentice at Hamilton TAFE and Reinhold was teaching him he kept pushing the envelope. This passion has now been amply rewarded and Brett has not only gained 2 Michelin stars, but has also been crowned with the Restaurant of the Year award in Britain. Reinhold worked a day at his restaurant The Ledbury last year and says “I could learn so much from him now and it is just amazing how dedicated he is. His palate is extraordinary and some of the ideas just blew me away”.

Patisserie Resources 25-05-2010


Futura Group has started filming recipes for the brand new patisserie resources to be released in January 2011. In conjunction with TAFENSW Northern Sydney Institute, Futura is producing resources to cover SITHPAT001A through to SITHPAT006A, with the remaining units to be developed early next year.

Herve Boutin, Australia’s only M.O.F Patisserie and Ice Cream Making Masterchef, has been demonstrating techniques and recipes for the benefit of future Pastry Chefs. We are excited about these new resources and eagerly await their release.
